A historic location in the city, Lake Austin, also called Town Lake, is made up of various neighborhoods, including Tarrytown, Clarksville, and the sprawling suburban subdivisions of Rollingwood and West Lake Hills. Considered to be in the top 20 marketplaces for Texas lakeside property, Lake Austin is a reservoir created in 1939 in the middle of the Colorado River and is one of seven manmade Colorado River lakes. It was created for flood control, power generation, and fun activities.
Remodeled homes, new estates, and traditional lake houses populate Lake Austin, and it is a great place for fishing and boating. One of the popular features of Lake Austin properties is the personal docks attached. It can be hard to find a house with a dock, however, as they are in high demand, creating waitlists.

Steeped in tradition and known for great service, the club has beautiful views and a luxurious ambiance.
Things to Do
Covering 21 acres of the natural landscape just outside Mayfield Park’s rock wall, the Mayfield Nature Preserve boasts a beautiful wildlife habitat where peacocks roam freely. Austin’s Nature Preserves System manages the preserve and keeps it in good condition. Visitors can enjoy the plants and animals in their natural habitat and the many walking trails winding through the preserve.
Westlake Beach Marina provides 168 boat slips and is dedicated to keeping boating places clean and safe. It is not just a great, environmentally responsible place for office space. It is also an ideal location to enjoy a picnic and a swim. Salamander Springs provides visitors with cold, crystal-clear water and a peaceful atmosphere. It is only accessible by kayaking, which is part of the charm.
Red Bud Isle provides visitors with kayaking, hiking, and canoeing, but one of its most appealing features is its off-leash dog park. Dogs have unlimited access to the open field, wooded areas, trails, and the lake. Not only is the landscape beautiful, but it is a ton of fun for all furry friends.
Found inside Covert Park, Mt. Bonnell is one of Austin’s highest points, stretching up 781 feet. Covering 5.1 acres of park, it is a great place to enjoy stunning views with minimal effort. At the top of the stairs, there is a pavilion and view deck for rest and beauty. It is a photographer's dream.
Offering 360-degree views, the Austin 360 Bridge, also called the Pennybacker Bridge, is an architectural beauty. A great location for photographs both of the bridge itself and the sunset views, it is 1,150 feet long with a road deck 70 feet above Lake Austin. There is a nearby trail that allows visitors to overlook the bridge from above.
